Cigano how to

Welcome and thank you for using Cigano Personal Mobile Database.

The first order of business is creating a database. To do this click the Android phone’s menu button and click the button labeled ‘New Database’.

The create database view offers several options for creating a new database. The first thing to do is give the database a name.

Then click the button with the + sign to add fields to the database. You must add at least one field in order to create a database but you don’t need to add all of them at this stage. You can add additional fields later.

After adding one or more fields click the notepad icon on the right side of the Primary Field label. The primary field is most prominently displayed and determines how the data is sorted. Clicking silver arrow icon allows you to specify if the sorting should be done in ascending or descending order. Specifying a secondary field is recommended but not required.

When you are finished click the save button to finish the database creation process.

There are several fields available to you to add to your database. The options field displays a list options similar to the options you see here. You can add the options that suit the database you are creating.

The address field saves you some time by adding a field that already has all of the information you’d need for an address so you don’t have to add each field individually.

As you can see there are also fields for displaying currency and numbers.

The notification field allows you to attach a notification to individual records. You can indicate that at a specific date and time you wish to receive a notification drawing your attention to that specific record. The notification will show in the phone’s status bar and when you click the notification Cigano will open displaying the record.

Here is an example of the options field configuration screen. The field requires a name and you can add a number of options that can be chosen from later. As you add more options they will appear in the list. To remove an item simply click the trashcan icon next to the item you want to remove.

When finished click the save button.

After creating a database it appears in the list.

Clicking on the icon to the right of the database label will take you to the database’s configuration screen. On the configuration screen you can change the database’s name as well as change the primary and secondary fields of the database. You can also change the sort order.

To view and edit your data click a database item in the list.

When opening a database, if you have an empty database you’ll see a form view of your database with the fields you previously added.

To edit a field click the notepad icon on the right side of the field. After you change and save the value it will appear in the field. You can edit each field in your database by clicking the edit icon.

From the menu bar at the bottom you can navigate your records by clicking the previous and next arrows. Clicking the icon with the + sign will create a new record with empty fields. Likewise clicking the trash can icon will delete the current database record. When clicking the trashcan icon you will first be asked to confirm the deletion.

For additional options click the menu button on your phone.

After clicking the menu button several action options appear. You can add additional fields to your database by clicking the ‘Add Field’ button. You can add fields of any of the available types.

From this menu you can also delete the database. You will be asked for confirmation before the database is deleted. NOTE: Once the database has been deleted it cannot be recovered.

Clicking the ‘Edit Fields’ button takes you to screen allowing you to make modifications to the fields in your database.

From this screen you can delete individual fields by clicking the trash can icon.

You can also reorder the fields by holding your fingertip down on the arrows icon to the right and dragging the field up or down in the list.

Clicking the individual fields will take you to a screen allowing you to change the fields name. If the field is an options field you can also add and remove items from the options list.

The search screen will allow you to perform a text search through all of the text based fields in the database. The search is case insensitive and will return all records matching the text you input or text that is determined to be similar to the text entered.

A list will appear displaying the search results. Clicking an item in the list will take you to the form view of the database where you can navigate the search results. Click the phone’s return button to return to the search screen. Click the return button further to return to the full database contents.
